What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use a web-based application. They allow the site or application to recognize your device, remember your preferences, and collect information about how you interact with the service.

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or malware. They cannot access other information stored on your device. A cookie can only be read by the website or application that set it.

In addition to cookies, Axle may use similar technologies, including web beacons, pixel tags, local storage, and session storage, that function in comparable ways. References to “cookies” in this policy cover all such technologies unless otherwise stated.

Axle operates as a B2B SaaS platform accessed by authorized users at institutional clients. Cookies placed by Axle are set in the context of authenticated platform sessions. They are not used to track individuals across third-party websites for advertising purposes.

02

Why axle Uses Cookies

Axle uses cookies to:

  • Keep you securely authenticated during your session and prevent unauthorized access to your account
  • Protect against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) and other security threats
  • Remember your display preferences and settings between sessions
  • Measure how the platform is used so we can identify and fix performance issues
  • Understand which features are used most frequently so we can prioritize product improvements
  • Support the functioning of third-party tools we use to operate and improve the platform, including analytics and customer support

Axle does not use cookies to serve advertising, to track your browsing activity on third-party websites, or to build profiles for sale to data brokers or marketing partners.

The legal basis for cookies that are strictly necessary for the platform to function is our legitimate interest in providing a secure and operational service (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). For all other cookies, we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time through our Cookie Preferences panel.

For users in the United States, Axle does not “sell” personal information or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act and analogous state privacy laws (including those of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Oregon, Texas, Montana and Delaware). We do not knowingly collect or process personal information of individuals under 16 years of age through cookies or similar technologies.

Cookie Categories

Category 01

Strictly Necessary

Required for core platform functionality — authentication, session management, and security controls. Cannot be disabled without breaking the platform.

Category 02

Functional

Remember your preferences and settings to personalize your experience — for example, timezone, language, and display configurations.

Category 03

Analytics and Performance

Measure how the platform is used — page views, feature interactions, session duration — to help us identify issues and improve the product.

Category 04

Third-Party Services

Set by third-party tools integrated into the platform — for example, customer support software or communication tools — to support their operation.

05

Third-Party Cookies

Some cookies on the axle platform are set by third-party service providers whose tools we use to operate and improve our services. We do not control the cookies set by third parties and cannot modify their storage or duration directly. Each third-party provider is responsible for its own cookie practices under its own privacy policy.

Where third-party tools set cookies that require your consent, we obtain that consent through our Cookie Preferences panel before those tools are loaded. You can withdraw consent at any time through the same panel.

Third-party providers whose tools may set cookies in the axle platform context include providers of analytics services, customer support tools, and platform infrastructure. The complete list appears in Section 04 above and in our Sub-Processor List.

Axle does not permit third-party advertising networks or data brokers to set cookies through the platform.

06

Managing Your Preferences

Browser-Level Controls

You can also control cookies at the browser level. Most browsers allow you to block all cookies, delete existing cookies, or configure settings per website. The following links go to the relevant settings pages for the most common browsers:

Note that blocking all cookies at the browser level will prevent you from logging into the axle platform, as authentication cookies are strictly necessary for the service to function.

Global Privacy Control

Where required by applicable U.S. state privacy laws, Axle will treat a valid Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as a request to opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information to the extent we engage in those activities. As described in Section 02, Axle does not currently sell or share personal information through cookies or similar technologies; we honor GPC as a matter of policy.

Strictly Necessary Cookies

Strictly Necessary cookies cannot be disabled through our Cookie Preferences panel or through any other axle-controlled mechanism. They are essential to the operation of the platform. If you do not wish to accept these cookies, you should not use the axle platform.
